Resources for HIV/AIDS & Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration

The Global AIDS Alliance is co-sponsoring a satellite session with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Mobilizing for RH/HIV Integration Initiative, called "Integration of Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS into Global Fund Proposals." The session will take place at the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City on Sunday 3 August from 3:45-5:15 pm (room TBA). The session will focus on linked and integrated reproductive health services as an essential component of universal access to HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment, discussing the evidence base and programmatic opportunities for integration. It will also focus on the political climate conducive to preparation of an integrated proposal, including enabling policies at the Global Fund itself, and provide examples of how some sub-Saharan African countries have succeeded in doing the political groundwork and civil society capacity building to produce a Country Coordinated Proposal that contains RH/HIV/AIDS integration. Speakers include Elizabeth Mataka, Vice-Chair of the Global Fund Board and UN Special Envoy for AIDS in Africa; Daniel Low Beer, Director of Performance and Evaluation Policy at the Global Fund Secretariat; Agnes Binagwaho, member of Rwanda’s Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism; Paul Zeitz, Executive Director of the Global AIDS Alliance; Akudo Ikemba, CEO of Friends of the Global Fund Africa; and representatives from women's organizations that have worked on integrated proposals in Round 8.
