Satellite Session: Linking sexual and reproductive health: increasing the evidence base of innovative approaches to achieve Universal Access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support and to reproductive health service

Session description/focus: Intensified linkages between sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and HIV provide an opportunity to increase the relevance, cost-effectiveness and impact of programmes and policies on both SRH and HIV outcomes. Linked programmes play an important role in efforts to achieve the goals of Universal Access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, and Universal Access to reproductive health Linked programming can help ensure that underserved populations, such as young people and marginalised groups, receive the services they need. Through this session, members of the UK Network on Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights Working Group on SRH and HIV Linkages will share concrete examples from Bangladesh, India, Ethiopia and Malawi of successful programmes they support which link SRH and HIV. The case studies will highlight successful elements from integrated programming in a wide range of epidemiological, geographical and social contexts, and will particularly showcase the particular contribution that community-based responses make to scaling up integrated programmes.
